Lee Carter - Executive Vice President of Scripture Engagement

Lee Carter currently serves as Executive Vice President of Scripture Engagement at Bible League International, overseeing field ministry programs, providing supervision and support, and driving long-term strategies for sustained growth for greater impact of the ministry. Carter is also responsible for effective reporting, evaluation, and improvement of ministry programs, including product and process improvements throughout Bible League International’s global reach.

Carter began serving with Bible League International in 2004 as Finance Manager for the Africa team. During this time, he traveled extensively throughout Africa building relationships and working with partners to implement accountability processes and reporting in order to enhance stewardship of donor gifts. His service and leadership within the Africa team created an opportunity for Carter to take on the role of Director of International Finance. In this new role, his responsibilities expanded globally, but remained similar to his position on the Africa team—training and developing partner capacity for effective financial accountability.

Carter remained in this position until 2013, when he rejoined the operations team as the Executive Director of Global Finance, supporting field operations in a broader range of responsibilities, including finance, product procurement and logistics, compliance, ministry reporting and impact, and key performance indicators.

His strong relationships with the ministry field, gifts in finance and logistics, passion for ministry, and desire to provide the global Church with effective ministry tools to reach their communities with God’s Word make him a natural fit for his current position. Carter says, “The Lord is stirring the Church around the world with an intense calling to reach those around them with the Gospel.” He explains, “But so often, churches lack resources or capacities to do that effectively.”

“I believe that the Living Word of God, Jesus Himself, is living and active. He cannot be contained, and He is using very ordinary people, in a variety of circumstances, to plant His life-giving Word in fertile soil.” Carter adds, “Bible League International’s ministry is exactly that—to serve the under-resourced Church with Bibles, biblical resources, and training so that they may share God’s Word with others so that their lives may be transformed by Him.”

Carter received his Bachelor’s in business management with an emphasis in accounting and a minor in communications studies from the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana. He earned his Master of Arts in nonprofit administration from North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. Carter also holds an accounting certification, is a Certified Management Accountant, and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants. Carter is originally from Billings, Montana where he attended college and became involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, serving first as a student leader, and after graduation, as full-time staff on three different campuses for five years.
