Leanne deKoning - Executive Vice President of People and Culture

Leanne deKoning currently serves as Executive Vice President of People and Culture at Bible League International. Her dedication to fulfilling the needs of staff with a servant’s heart ensures employees enjoy their work environment and culture while enabling them to develop and utilize their God-given gifts, talents, and skills to their best potential. As Executive Vice President of Administration, she is responsible for the functional areas that support the employees within the ministry including: human resources, information technology, and facilities oversight and management.

She started her work at Bible League International in 2004 within the Human Resources Department where she focused on recruitment and hiring in Crete, IL. Her passion for ministry grew during this time as she heard stories from potential and new hires of how God led them to Bible League International and how He is at work in their lives.

Assuming the role of Associate Director of Human Resources, her responsibilities expanded, incorporating all facets of human resources, including recruitment and selection, new hire orientation and onboarding, benefits administration, salary administration, and payroll processing. deKoning managed her new role with excellence and built strong relationships with partners, leaders, and managers throughout the ministry—leading in ways that naturally guided her to step into her current role. She continued to cultivate staff of all levels by emboldening them to use their skills to help transform more lives worldwide through God’s Word.

Leanne experienced the uniqueness of Bible League International ministry firsthand in 2008 when she traveled to Cuernavaca, Mexico, about 60 miles south of Mexico City. She remembers arriving at a countryside building made of block with dirt floors and no actual windows or doors. The building was located on the outskirts of town where Project Philip ministry was taking place. The people—mainly women and children from the nearby village—traveled on foot to this very modest building to study God’s Word. Each person in the Bible study was engaged and listening intently to the Project Philip leader. deKoning joyfully recalls, “It was awesome to see how the material and training that Bible League International provides is so essential and helpful to people in sharing the Gospel and engaging them in God’s Word.”

“What is most exciting to me about working at Bible League International is that I actually have a small part in people around the world becoming engaged in studying God’s Word and coming to know the Lord for the first time. It’s a thrill to know that as a result of the work that I do, Christ’s Kingdom is growing and multiplying here on earth, and I am a part of a ministry fulfilling the Great Commission.”

deKoning obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She worked for over 10 years in the field of human resources prior to joining Bible League International.
